From September 2019 Alex Bradley joined us at CCP Gransden on his placement year in industry. Alex is studying Automotive Materials BEng (Hons) at Loughborough University.
Placement years are becoming increasingly commonplace, with more and more undergraduate courses offering an optional “sandwich” year spent working in industry. Placement years differ to traditional, shorter internships in that the extended duration allows students to take up a role within a business that carries real responsibility. Completing a year in industry at CCP Gransden provided Alex with the soft skills needed to be successful in the workplace, as well as some of the more technical skills required by specialist advanced composites engineers. His enthusiasm and commitment were very refreshing. Alex’s contribution to the team at CCP Gransden was greatly appreciated. All in all, it was a very successful placement and beneficial to both the company and Alex.
Speaking about his placement Alex stated “Working at CCP Gransden has been an amazing experience. Working in and learning about the advanced composites industry will be such valuable knowledge going into the working world after completing university. CCP Gransden was amazing in being able to give me experience in 3 major industries: defence, aerospace, and automotive and the whole team really let me get involved to learn about all the projects. I really enjoyed doing the hands-on learning on the Engel press and also assisting in project planning aspects giving me a different perspective to what it takes to create a successful project. A big thanks to the engineering team for really making me part of the team during my time there.”
Alex, from all the team at CCP Gransden we wish you the best for the future.
