| Rotary Drum Vacuum Filter |
November 2007 |
CCP Gransden are celebrating the 1st year
of successful operation of possibly the worlds largest
rotary drum vacuum filter manufactured using glass
reinforced plastic (GRP). |
| The company based in County Down in Northern Ireland have
been working with FMC Biopolymer in Cork for over 25 years
manufacturing GRP plant and equipment used in the production
of micro crystalline cellulose. When one of the original
GRP rotary drum vacuum filters on site in Cork was nearing
the end of its service life, FMC asked CCP Gransden to manufacture
a replacement. After a lengthy construction period during
which CCP Gransden carried out a number of modifications
to the original design in order to improve the performance,
operation and maintenance of the filter, it was delivered
to Cork, installed and commissioned in November 2006.

“The GRP rotary drum vacuum filter was one of the
largest pieces of equipment manufactured by CCP Gransden
in recent years. Its successful construction and trouble
free operation throughout the year is a testament to the
skill and diligence of our workforce in Ballygowan. We are
looking forward to continuing our relationship with FMC
in the years to come and look forward to being involved
in future projects both in Ireland and abroad.”

automated Ciba JetWet FAB100 unit with a 1m3 make up tank
and a 1m3 storage tank is mounted inside a covered twin
axle trailer complete with a variable speed polymer dosing
pump. The unit can be deployed very quickly with only power
supply, water supply and polymer feed lines to be connected.

| CCP Gransden bund lining. |
Sept 2006 |
For construction of new bunds
or the refurbishment of existing leaking bunds CCP Gransden
can offer the following custom made solutions.
A glass reinforced plastic (GRP) layer can be used to
build up a continuous leak free layer over existing concrete
or block surfaces sealing cracks and leaks and providing
a cost effective means of refurbishing an existing bund
– effectively a tank within the bund.
For more aggressive chemicals which attack
GRP, a polypropylene liner can be constructed either in
our workshops and dropped into place or a liner can be
fabricated in situ using hot gas and extrusion welding
techniques.

In situ constructed polypropylene bund for caustic.
|

Existing caustic bund showing 4 different attempts to seal it – red floor paint, green trowelled on sealer, a grey plastic sealer and a white reinforced lining – all unsuccessful!”

| CCP Gransden launch Gulley Lining System |
Nov 2005 |
Running chemical and effluent pipes below
ground level can present environmental and practical difficulties.
Damage to and leaks from the pipes can go unseen and repairs
can be hampered by having to excavate the entire pipeline
until the damage is found. Even double containment systems,
which will contain a leak from the inner pipe, must be
dismantled and inspected before a leak can be identified
and repaired.
Polypropylene
gulley liner with GRP grid floor cover.
The CCP Gransden polypropylene gulley lining is a secondary
containment system for pipework carrying hazardous liquids
below ground level. The lining is fabricated using 5mm
thick polypropylene material, which has a high chemical
resistance. On the rear face it has a series of lugs, which
provide a mechanical fixing into cast concrete. The lined
gulley is covered using solid or grid flooring in a variety
of materials to suit the operating conditions of the area
in which it is installed. Pipework can be installed within
the lined gulley and can easily be inspected or repaired
simply by lifting the covers without excavation. If required,
pipe clips or other brackets may be hot gas or extrusion
welded to the surface of the lining to carry pipework or
other services.
To install the lining, a trench is excavated. The lining
sections are placed in the trench, secured and the joints
between sections are hot gas or extrusion welded. Wet concrete
is poured around them. As it cures the concrete grips the
polypropylene lugs and holds the channel securely in the
trench.
